SHEBOYGAN (WITI) -- Sheboygan fire officials on Monday evening, March 30th were called out to a fire at a home on Cheyenne Trail in Sheboygan -- in the Indian Meadows Trailer Park.
The call came in shortly after 5:00 p.m. It required a multi-unit response, with five fire apparatus, three med units and several fire personnel dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, crews found a fully-involved structure, and the extreme heat was melting siding off of an adjacent trailer.
Firefighters pulled three attack hose lines off of two apparatus and quickly extinguished the large volume of fire before it could spread to the nearby properties.
Fire officials say a woman suffered first and second-degree burns to her hands, leg and face, and she also suffered mild to moderate smoke inhalation. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Additionally, two cats died in the fire.
The fire caused approximately $30,000 in damage to the home and its contents. There was an additional $1,000 in damage to an adjacent trailer. The home where the fire originated is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
