CALGARY -- Some parents in Calgary, in Alberta, Canada are getting attention for what they did to honor their transgender son.

Steve Peace, a tattoo artist, gave his wife, Lindsay three tattoos more than a decade ago. The tattoos featured portraits of their three children: Elliot, Hamish and Ace.

15-year-old Ace Peace is transgender.

The original tattoo portrait of Ace showed a girl -- with pigtails and a pink dress. The tattoo was created before Ace came out as transgender.

"I felt it didn't reflect me," Ace Peace said.

His mom, Lindsay says her tattoo made her son sad, and they realized it was in need of a touchup.

"We have this permanent image on my wife, and, you know, he's going to see that every day," Steve Peace said.

The pink dress was turned into a blue T-shirt and shorts while the purple flower was transformed into a slingshot.

"It made me really happy, because I didn't realize how much she believed me. It finally fits," Ace Peace said.
