Suspicious death: Body found in Kenosha Co. cornfield believed to be Tywon Anderson

KENOSHA -- Officials say the body found in a Kenosha County cornfield on Saturday, September 26th is believed to be that of 37-year-old Tywon Anderson.

The man's body was found in a cornfield off Highway A.

Anderson was reported missing a week earlier -- on September 19th.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department is calling the death suspicious. Officials say the information they can give out is limited right now because they are looking for people of interest. They say no one is in custody for this situation -- but they are working to follow up on leads.

Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth believes Anderson had been dead for seven days before he was found. Sheriff's officials cannot say at this point if where he was found is where he was killed -- or just where his body was placed.

Sheriff Beth says the public is not at risk -- as he believes this was a targeted act. He also said the victim was believed to be involved in some sort of illegal activity, with a drug history.

"At this point we`re calling it a suspicious death and we`d like to talk to these people of interest to see I they have any more as to what exactly occurred at the scene. We know that the circle that he hangs around with does get involved in illegal activity," Sheriff Beth said.

Anderson's family members say he was a father of six.

"He was funny. He always had the family laughing. He was such an encouraging man. I'm going to miss that. When he went missing I was like, 'no. He can't be missing. I just seen him.'  I didn`t expect this to happen to him, especially not the way he died," Khalia Anderson, a cousin of Tywon said.

Just about everyone else who knew Anderson felt the same way.

"It was unusual for him not to be around because his kids," Drew Catter, Anderson's apartment manager said.

Anyone who knows what happened or has information that could help investigators is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333 or the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department.
