MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) is expanding service across Milwaukee County. Beginning Sunday, March 22nd, MCTS will begin running a new route to Brown Deer while expanding a separate route to Oak Creek. Both routes are aimed at helping people get to job centers in those cities.
New Routes
Starting, Sunday, March 22nd, Route 276 (Brown Deer Shuttle) will provide service from Park Plaza and Brown Deer, to Green Bay Road, to Cherrywood Lane primarily along the Brown Deer Road corridor. This area contains several office and industrial establishments that are currently without transit service. Route 276 will operate on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. and from 5 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekends.
Also starting on March 22nd, Route 80 (6th Street) will be extended south to provide regular all-day service for the first time from MATC South to Oak Creek. With this extension, Route 80 will serve Drexel Town Square and the retailer Meijer (both under construction), Woodman’s Market, Target, Kohl’s, and many other businesses and residences. Route 80 buses will operate daily from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m.
Seasonal Adjustments to Take Effect
MCTS bus schedules change up to four times a year to accommodate regular seasonal adjustments. The following routes are changing on March 22: Routes 14 (Humboldt – Forest Home), 21 (North Avenue), 23 (Fond du Lac-National), 67 (N. 76th – S. 84th Street), 76 (N. 60th – S. 70th Street), 79 (Menomonee Falls Flyer), 80 (6th Street), 223 (Park Place – Bradley Woods Shuttle), BlueLine MetroEXpress (Fond du Lac – National Avenue), 44 (National Flyer) and 49 (Brown Deer – Bayshore Flyer).
