South Milwaukee closes 3 schools early due to power outage

SOUTH MILWAUKEE -- A power outage on Friday morning, September 30th forced the South Milwaukee School District to close three schools early.

The power outage was first reported around 8:00 a.m. The power was expected to return to normal at 10:00 a.m. However, We Energies was not able to provide with a definite time for full power recovery.

Rawson students were to remain at school until an authorized parent or emergency contact arrives at the school for an individual release. Students who attend the YMCA after school program may remain at school.

Middle school students were to be released at 11:15 a.m. Parents should pick up outside the middle school at 11:15 a.m. as normal.

High school students were to be released at 11:00 a.m.

For students who normally take the bus, they will be allowed to stay at school until the bus arrives.
