Six steps for savings: Here's your Black Friday outlet mall shopping game plan!

PLEASANT PRAIRIE (WITI) — Are you geared up and ready to go for Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping? Plenty of retailers are opening early once again this year including area outlet malls.

Outlets are known for great deals.

"25% to 60% savings every day," Denise Clark the Director of Marketing for Premium Outlets in Pleasant Prairie and Johnson Creek said.

However, as you head out to shop for the holidays, there are even more ways you can make sure to get the most out of your visit and save money.

First, before you even head out the door, check out the sales and events page on the Premium Outlets website. Once there, you'll be able to quickly find promotions and events for that day and future shopping trips.

Another step, before leaving your home, is taking time to map your route.

"I love when the shopper gets the map. You can download it online and print it off," Clark said.

Premium Outlet maps are on the website and available as a free PDF download.

After you plan your day — plan your wardrobe.

"Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and stay warm," Clark said.

Many of the Premium Outlets locations require being outdoors and doing a lot of walking. Not wearing the proper attire could cut your trip short before you have everything you need.

Now, if you want to be a VIP, you can do a few more things before heading out to shop.

If you're willing to give up some personal information like your e-mail address, and answer a few questions — most stores will offer you deeper discounts.

At the local Premium Outlets joining the VIP Club links you directly to more savings.

"Not only will you get the free VIP coupon book when you visit one of our centers, but you also receive additional coupons online that you can't get anywhere else," Clark said.

While you're online -- do a Google search under the shopping tab. The exact item you're looking for may not be sold at an outlet store. Retail consultant Buxton says 86% of merchandise is specially produced for outlet stores.

Finally, for those ultimate deal hunters, get out the door early. Some stores, like Kate Spade, have special items for early bird shoppers. You won't find them online or even in-store prior to that day.

"A lot of the stores don't even know about exclusive offers until maybe the day before or they are sworn to secrecy they cannot tell us," Clark said.

Premium Outlet malls open at 6:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving and stay open until 10:00 p.m. on Black Friday.
