MILWAUKEE/WAUKESHA COUNTIES (WITI) -- Charged in two separate cases -- one out of Milwaukee County and one out of Waukesha County, a Brookfield man has been sentenced -- accused of stealing flushing valves from toilets and urinals in public restrooms and scraping them.
Cory Feerick
Feerick was sentenced in the case out of Milwaukee County on Wednesday, January 14th.
In that case, Feerick faced two felony counts of criminal damage to property (over $2,500).
He's accused of committing the following burglaries:
Feerick was arrested after a tip from a Milwaukee salvage yard worker led Brookfield and UW-Milwaukee police to him. That salvage yard worker told police Feerick indicated he received the property he was scraping from AJ Graff plumbing from a job site in Kenosha -- according to the criminal complaint.
The salvage yard worker indicated the salvage yard wouldn't have allowed the sale of the commercial valves without a legitimate industry connection because there would be no legitimate reason a non-industry affiliated individual would be in possession of commercial flush valves.
Police spoke with AJ Graff Plumbing's owner, and he indicated the last time Feerick worked for him was in June of 2012.
In this case filed out of Milwaukee County, Feerick initially faced six counts of identity theft (obtaining money or credit).
Amended charges were filed: two felony counts of criminal damage to property (over $2,500) -- charges he pleaded guilty to in November 2014.
Feerick was sentenced to 20 months in prison, with credit for 64 days served. He has been ordered to serve 20 months of extended supervision.
He must also pay restitution to the businesses that were targeted.
In the case out of Waukesha County, Feerick pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor theft of movable property charges.
He was sentenced to two years probation, and he was ordered to pay restitution.
