Police: 40-year-old woman shot, killed by her boyfriend

MILWAUKEE -- A 38-year-old man was arrested after fatally shooting his girlfriend near 94th and Bradley.

Police were called to the area just before 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 22nd. They say the couple was arguing when the 38-year-old shot the woman living with him.

The 40-year-old victim, identified as Teneya Little,  was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody by police. The weapon used was also recovered at the scene.

"It's a sad thing to hear," Aaron Walton, a neighbor and friend of the victim's son said. "Plenty of police cars all over the block. They had to tape off everything."

Walton says an argument escalated early on Sunday morning.

"Rage, miscommunication, misunderstanding I think," Walton said. "I found out it was one of the kid's mothers I be playing football with. When you hear that kind of thing, it's kind of crazy."

Walton said he often spends time with the victim's son and was hurting for all of the loved ones she left behind.

Family members told FOX6 News the victim was a hardworking mother of two teenagers.

"To her family, my prayers and thoughts go out to them. I know that's kind of like, real heavy on them for a single mom to get taken away from her kids like that," Walton said.

Walton said he was heartbroken to learn the woman's life was taken in a domestic violence incident.

"Domestic violence is something my mother always talked to about coming up. Don`t put your hands on women. If you feel a certain type of way, you should leave the situation. I still think as a man, you should kind of like, take your time, get a breather, and step away from the situation," Walton said.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
