Police: 22-year-old Carroll University student robbed at knife-point

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha police are investigating after a Carroll University student was robbed at knife-point early Tuesday morning, December 9th.

Police say it happened between 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. in the area of Barstow Street and Carroll Street in Waukesha.

The victim, a 22-year-old Carroll University student left Frontier Hall and was walking home when he was approached by a male suspect.

Police say the suspect held a knife to the victim, and made him walk to an unlit area before asking for his wallet. The victim didn't have his wallet, so the suspect asked for the victim's phone. The suspect was unable to get the victim's phone, so he instead took items from the victim's backpack.

During the course of the robbery, the victim was injured by the suspect's knife. Those injuries are described as non life-threatening.

"I heard somebody scream -- like a yelling scream," Rauch said.

Rauch says she's convinced she heard the armed robbery in progress.

"We are very thankful that the student sustained (only) minor injuries. We`re really in a quiet, safe, residential neighborhood and this incident is very atypical for Carroll. The safety of our students is a top priority at Carroll and we take this very seriously," Carroll University Director of Communications and Marketing Jeannine Sherman said.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early to mid 20s, 6'2" to 6'4" tall with a skinny build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and work boots.
