WAUKESHA -- Drivers, take note. Pewaukee Road at North Street in Waukesha is closed due to a washout on the slope, according to a Facebook post by the City of Waukesha.

The City of Waukesha shut down the road Wednesday evening after heavy rain rushed through the area. The road was already saturated with the rain we received earlier this week. When the storm moved through, the ground gave way, sending rocks and dirt right onto Pewaukee Road.

The Highway Department is expected to be on the scene Thursday morning to start cleaning up the mess.

As always, drivers are urged not to drive through flooded roadways. As the saying goes, "don't drown, turn around."
