Patient injured after fire breaks out inside room in ER at Aurora Sinai Hospital

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A fire broke out inside a room in the ER at Aurora Sinai Hospital on N. 12th Street in Milwaukee Monday evening, January 26th.

It happened shortly before 8:00 p.m.

Fire officials were notified about the fire via a paramedic unit at the hospital. We're told a man who was burned was a patient inside at room in the ER, and we're told the man was on oxygen. He was apparently moving some things around in his pocket and may have flicked a lighter in his pocket -- causing the fire.

There is no suspicion that there was a piece of equipment that malfunctioned.

The patient was taken to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown.

The emergency room did not have to be evacuated.

It is believed that this fire was accidental in nature.
