Passenger traffic is on the rise at Mitchell International Airport

MILWAUKEE -- Passenger traffic rose more than three percent at General Mitchell International Airport in June, according to a news release issued by Mitchell International Airport on Friday, August 26th.

June passengers totaled 611,001, an increase of 3.4% from the 591,145 total that was recorded in June of 2015.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele issued the following statement regarding this development:


Southwest Airlines launched Saturday service to San Diego in June, which increased to daily service earlier this month. Frontier Airlines also launched a new nonstop flight to Philadelphia in June.

Passenger traffic for the first half of 2016 is up 3.2% from the same period last year. Year-to-date air freight numbers are up nearly 19% from the previous year.
