MILWAUKEE -- The number of travelers choosing Mitchell International Airport surged by more than four percent in March, according to officials with the airport. They say that increase marks the airport’s seventh consecutive month of passenger traffic growth.
Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele was quoted in a news release as saying the following:
Airport officials say additional spring break flights contributed to Southwest’s gain of 12,000 passengers in March. Southwest has the largest market share at MKE.
According to statistics released by the airport, 651,546 passengers used MKE in March, an increase of 4.1% from the 626,067 that chose MKE in March 2015. Fares remain low, too. MKE’s average fare remained below the national average, according to statistics released this week by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
