Milwaukee boy dies in house fire
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says 6-year-old Rashaan Wilson III died at a home near 36th and Custer in Milwaukee on the evening of April 2.
MILWAUKEE - FOX6 News learned on Tuesday, April 9 the name of the 6-year-old boy who died in a fire one week ago.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says 6-year-old Rashaan Wilson III died at a home near 36th and Custer in Milwaukee on the evening of April 2.
According to the medical examiner's report, the boy's uncle was watching him and several other kids.

Take one look at Wilson III and you'd never know the hurdles he'd already cleared.
"They said he wasn't going to make it," said Bernice Julks, the child's grandmother. "He was only 2 pounds [when he was born]."
Shortly before 10 p.m. on April 2, a Milwaukee County medical examiner's report said Wilson was in the attic of an uncle's house, who was watching him and several other kids. The report said the uncle was using the stove as a "source of heat."
Per the report, when the uncle fell asleep, kids started putting things on the stove, sparking the fire.

The uncle escaped with some kids while Wilson was still in the attic. Firefighters rescued the boy, who was then taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, April 6.

"I'm hurt, you know? He don't deserve what happened to him," Julks said. "He don't deserve that."

Wilson III's father has set up a GoFundMe page to cover funeral expenses.
Julks said she just wants accountability for her grandson.
"How would he know if he was asleep? It doesn't make sense," she said. "Nothing adds up. At the end of the day, all I see is neglect."
