Family returns from troubled cruise

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- After days at sea without electricity, working toilets and little food, a Milwaukee family arrived back home on Friday, February 15th.

As Gene Albanese, her daughter Allison Raison and Aunt, Karen Paddock walk the airport concourse, they are cheered on by family.

"It feels great to finally be back and know we`re safe and sound we don`t have to worry anymore," said Raison.

All three were stock on the crippled Carnival cruise ship, Triumph. It's a nightmare that started last Sunday with an engine fire. More than 4,000 people were left on the drifting ship.

"We`ve had our moments of crying and rage," said Albanese.

But through the tears, the family remained optimistic.

"Everybody was happy and kept together.  Everybody watched out for each other," said Paddock.

In the end, the three have a sense of humor about the trying ordeal. They've even kept small mementos of their adventure -- including a red, hazardous waste bag.

The family docked in Mobile, Alabama late Thursday night -- and took a bus ride to New Orleans. They flew back to Milwaukee on Friday.
