Milwaukee-based El Rey voluntarily recalls some tortilla chips over labeling

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee-based El Rey Mexican Products Inc. is voluntarily recalling some chips over labeling.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection said Friday the company is recalling its lemon-flavored tostaditas chips. The chips use spices containing wheat, a known allergen that is not listed on the label.

No illnesses have been reported. The product is safe to eat for people who do not have an allergy to wheat.

The chips were sold in 16-ounce packages at El Rey's four stores in Milwaukee.
