Member of Brew City Bruisers roller derby team shot in Bay View

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A botched armed robbery led to gunfire over the weekend in Bay View, and a woman was shot -- and the suspect is still at large.

Early Sunday morning, October 27th, Christina Huth left a Halloween party, and on the way home, stopped at her local watering hole. Just as she and another person were walking home, a man wearing all black and a hood held them up at gunpoint.

The man demanded money, but Huth said she didn't have any.

During the altercation, the hooded suspect shot Huth in the chest.

Huth works as an animal evaluator for the Wisconsin Humane Society. In a statement, the organization expressed its heartbreak and described her as a kind and selfless person who cares deeply about improving Milwaukee.

However, Huth's true passion is roller derby. Huth is known as "Sin N’ Innocence" to her teammates on the Brew City Bruisers -- Milwaukee's roller derby group.

The Brew City Bruisers established a foundation on Huth’s behalf through Educators Credit Union to help with her recovery and medical bills. Any donations are greatly appreciated and can be made at any Educators Credit Union branch to the Friends of Christina Huth benefit account.
