A four-year-old child was hit by a car and killed at McGovern Park on Sunday, June 16.

On Monday, June 17, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the child as Marquell Roby-Holmes.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said it happened around 6:30 p.m.

Trevion Crockett said that a scream and a subsequent fight were enough to stop the game just north of a parking lot on the west side of the park.

"I was playing basketball with a couple of people [...]  and we all heard a loud scream," Crockett said. "I thought, 'What was going on? What was happening?' Until I ran over here and seen blood on the ground, and I seen a car staying right there. And I seen people getting emotional and all that."

He said police and paramedics arrived quickly.

"I didn’t really see the kid get hit, but I did see the ambulance people pick the child up and see if it's okay," he said. "People do speed and all that crap, but you gotta watch out for the kids, man. I don't know if she saw the kid or not but you still gotta watch out for the kid."

The MCSO has not shared any additional information.
