Mars recalls several types of Combos snacks

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Mars Chocolate North America announced that the company is recalling several Combos snacks over peanut contamination concerns.

The voluntary recall includes the Cheddar Cheese Pretzel, Cheddar Cheese Cracker, Pizzeria Pretzel, Salt Caramel Pretzel, pepperoni Cracker, and Buffalo Pretzel flavors. Mars launched the recall after finding out its supplier, Grain Craft, had discovered low levels of peanut residue in its wheat flour.

While any contamination could potentially be life-threatening for consumers with severe allergies, "the amount of peanut exposure from use of the flours ... is considered to be low and not expected to cause adverse health effects in the vast majority of peanut allergic consumers."

The affected Combos have a "best before" date ranging from march, 2017 - April, 2017. Besides the United States, snacks under recall were also shipped to Jamaica, Bahamas, Virgin Islands-St Thomas, Antigua, Colombia, Panama, Puerto Rico, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore.
