MILWAUKEE -- A 25-year-old South Milwaukee man is now charged with robbing the TCF Bank branch on S. Howell Ave. in Oak Creek on Saturday, October 20th. The criminal complaint indicates Joseph Jenich robbed the bank because he wanted to get caught.
The complaint says the teller took a plastic bag that Jenich handed her and filled it with money from her cash drawer. She told police Jenich repeatedly said, "no dye packs, no dye packs."
After reviewing the surveillance video from the robbery, police were able to track down Jenich. In his statement to police found in the criminal complaint, Jenich said, "robbing the bank was the solution. It's impossible for me to stay clean. I'm sucking everyone dry." Jenich also said, "I wanted to rob a federal bank. I wanted to go to federal prison."
Jenich pleaded not guilty on Friday to the charge he now faces. If convicted, Jenich faces up to 40 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.
