Attempt to set record for loudest dog bark
(CNN) -- It was a valiant effort, but a bunch of barking dogs in Wisconsin came up a little short!
La Crosse, Wisconsin's 12th annual "Bark in the Park" was the place to be if you enjoy the sound of dogs barking.
People brought their pooches to the park to try to beat a Guinness World Record for the "loudest bark by a group of dogs."
The La Crosse area used to hold the title, until some vocal canines in Colorado took away the honor in 2009.
Organizers played some old standbys -- doorbells and other sounds on a loudspeaker to get the group going.
The decibel level to beat was 124 -- equal to an ambulance siren.
This year, the dogs could only muster a barking level of 114.5 -- about 10 decibels short.
Dog owners say they hope to try again next year!
