And he is accused of kidnapping, robbing and trying to sexually assault a woman in a downtown Milwaukee alley.
Early on Nov. 9th, a woman says she was waiting for an Uber near 2nd and Wisconsin, when prosecutors say 29-year-old Cody Dodson walked across the street and started talking to her.
He asked for her phone number, and tried to get into a building with her.
While on the phone with her Uber driver, the woman told police Dodson grabbed her arm, took her phone, her wallet and dragged her into an alley across the street.
That's where the woman said Dodson punched her and tried to sexually assault her.
Criminal complaint
The Uber driver told police she tracked the woman's phone, and turned into the alley. Dodson ran off.
Court filings say portions of the incident were caught on nearby surveillance cameras.
The woman's ID was found in a nearby dumpster, and her phone was found in a grease bin.
A print on the phone came back to Dodson.
Dodson is awaiting trial for a 2022 case when prosecutors say he fired bullets into an apartment ceiling, and shot himself in the hand.
He had a $2,500 signature bond set in the case, and is on community supervision for a case dating back more than a decade.
In June 2014, Dodson was charged with attempted armed robbery and attempted first degree intentional homicide for a shooting outside a bar near 76th and Hampton.
Prosecutors say Dodson walked up to a car, pointed a gun at the victim, and tried to rob the man.
But the victim had a gun, as well.
Both Dodson and the victim were shot while exchanging gunfire.
