Family members did what they could to get themselves and each other out safely. Fire officials said one person jumped from a window.

A mother and father were hurt while trying to get out -- suffering non-life threatening injuries. Their 18-month-old child was taken to a hospital as a precaution for smoke inhalation. Their six other children escaped the fire without injury.

"The kids were all here on my floor, on my couch. They didn't have no clothes -- nothing. The baby was cold and shaking. The twins were shaking. Everyone was so cold. It's so sad," a neighbor said.
