Inaugural "Chinese Lantern Festival" will light up Boerner Botanical Gardens in October

MILWAUKEE -- This fall, Boerner Botanical Gardens will be lit up with Chinese lanterns.

The inaugural "Chinese Lantern Festival" will arrive in October 2016.

For the entire month, visitors will be able to see 40 larger-than-life sculptural lantern displays across the garden. For example, one of the features will be a 200-foot-long dragon! Others will include a three-foot baby panda, and a three-story Chinese palace pagoda.

More than 30 artists from China will create the bright displays.

To top it all off, they'll have acrobats, dancers and jugglers performing.

This will take place October 1st through the 30th, Tuesday through Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Each weekend will have a special theme.

Admission is $15 for adults (age 18–59) and $10 for seniors (age 60 and up) and children (age 5-17). Children under age 5 will be admitted free.

For $30, a patron may purchase a one-visit VIP ticket, which includes a behind-the-scenes tour, optional participation in the Illumination Parade, fabric lantern, and mobile guide.

Grass-lot parking is included with all admission tickets.

Boerner Botanical Gardens, located in Hales Corners, is closed on Mondays.
