How creative writing is helping cancer patients

MILWAUKEE -- Creative writing can be good therapy. That's especially true for people going through a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Maggie Lausten and Mindy Bartczak with Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin join FOX6 WakeUp with details on a writing workshop for cancer patients.

Maggie Lausten coordinates a legacy writing workshop at Froedtert. Smallstones Wellness Center at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center offers a Legacy Writing Workshop every September for cancer patients (anyone with cancer -- not just Froedtert patients.)

-The 4-hour workshop is an opportunity for self-examination, reflection and sharing to convey feelings and life lessons with the people we love.
-The woman who teaches the class is a cancer survivor herself.
-No writing experience necessary!
