Protest at Cargill Milwaukee slaughterhouse

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A group protested in front of Cargill's Milwaukee slaughterhouse on Sunday, September 29th, as part of the 30th annual "World Day for Farmed Animals" movement.

The group is coordinating protests around the world.

In Milwaukee, the group says it protests every month, and says the message is one of unity.

"We can all suffer, we can all feel pain, we can all love, and we think we need to co-exist with them instead of making them commodities," Ryan Olson with the Farm Animal Rights Movement said.

Cargill officials say they do everything to make sure the animals are treated humanely -- including following all industry standards.

Cargill says the facility in Milwaukee is monitored by a third party for any violations.
