Learning to Dress to Impress at Alverno College
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Free business attire was offered to students at Alverno College on Tuesday, September 24th, in an effort to help them "dress to impress" when it comes to job interviews.
The event was called "Dress to Impress for Less!"
"You have to have nice, longer skirts, and nice, fitted pants and clothing to really nail that interview,"
Students got a lesson in professional dress on Tuesday at Alverno College during the third semester of the "Dress to Impress" event, which included a fashion show, fashion tips and via the "Alverno Rack" -- fashion for free!
"The clothes that are available to our students in the Alverno Rack are all donations," Joanna Patterson, the Director of the Career Education Center at Alverno told FOX6 News.
Patterson explains the motivation behind Dress to Impress for Less involves helping students slip in to some swagger.
"Confidence is such an important aspect of professionalism and self-presentation. We know that, very often, if someone feels that they are dressed appropriately, they are going to be more comfortable and confident in an interaction," Patterson said.
Clothing donations to Alverno College are graciously accepted to hep stock the "Dress to Impress" event -- offered once each semester.
