MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- We've been watching the progress for years, but now the hotel in Potawatomi Hotel and Casino is open to the public.

"I can`t believe it`s here. It seems like just yesterday we were breaking ground back in 2012," said Potawatomi Hotel and Casino External Communications Manager Ryan Amundson.

The hotel features 381 rooms surrounded in windows.

"Floor to ceiling windows, you`ll get a great view of downtown Milwaukee. It will be a unique experience when people stay here," said Amundson.

The lobby includes a bar, coffee shop, and a whole lot of lights.

"We have fixtures in the lobby ceiling 16.1 million different colors and we can do tons of stuff with it animations, different colors dependent on the mood, the season, the time of day," said Amundson.

Along with the hotel opening, Potawatomi also welcomed guests to its newest restaurant, Locavore, for the first time.

"We`re open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner really going after that trend of local sourcing, sustainable ingredients, something that`s really hot in dining today," said Amundson.

The hotel is adding plenty of new jobs to the area.

Construction of the building created 1,000 jobs, and there are 250 permanent jobs.

"These are good paying jobs and these folks that we`ve hired will present the best in service to everybody that stays in this hotel," said Amundson.

Continuing the growth of a facility that was originally built as just a bingo hall back in 1991.
