WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha fire officials say the cause of the fire that occurred at Waukesha Iron and Metal last Wednesday, April 29th remains undetermined.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found 60-70 cars on fire, as well as miscellaneous items such as household appliances.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined because of the damage done to the vehicles that were in the pile where the fire started, which didn't allow investigators to determine what specific vehicle the fire started in.

What has been determined, however, is that the fire started in one of the vehicles in that pile that was set to be processed and recycled.
Smoke could be seen for miles last Wednesday evening as crews battled the fire.
Crews were dispatched to the scene around 5:15 p.m. We're told crews at the scrapyard tried to put the fire out themselves before the Waukesha Fire Department was called.

No one was injured.
The owner of Waukesha Iron and Metal told the fire department there wasn't really a dollar loss due to the fire, because despite the material and metal being burned, the vehicles in the pile where the fire started can still be recycled.
Firefighters used 720,000 gallons of water and 330 gallons of foam to put the fire out. They were on the scene for about five hours last Wednesday.
