OKLAHOMA CITY - An Oklahoma man's Facebook post about his wife who is carrying their baby without a brain to term is going viral.
Earlier this month, Royce Young posted a photo of his wife, Keri Young, on Facebook.
Along with the picture, Young, who is a writer for ESPN, described the heartbreaking moment the couple found out that their daughter didn't have a brain and his wife's immediate selfless reaction:
Young's post about his wife quickly went viral, receiving more than 5,900 shares and 15,000 interactions on Facebook.
He told the Huffington Post that while the post was a tribute to his wife, he also hopes it sheds light on another aspect of reproductive freedom.
According to the Huffington Post, Young wants people to know that "choice" does not exclusively refer to termination but can mean choosing to bring their baby into the world and letting her life save others.
“We love seeing the impact our little girl is having,” the dad told HuffPost.
“We won’t get to brag about her grades or how pretty her hair is,” he said. “This is what we get to tell people about, and we want to take advantage of it.”
Keri Young says that since her husband's Facebook post went viral, she has received an overwhelming amount of support.
She said that she plans to keep everyone updated on her pregnancy on Facebook.
