Fatal motorcycle crash at 76th and Silver Spring

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- One man is dead after a collision between a car and motorcycle on Milwaukee's northwest side that occurred late Saturday, April 11th.

The collision happened around 11:30 p.m. at 76th and Silver Spring Drive.

Police say a 72-year-old man, now identified as David Berg, was riding his motorcycle northbound on N. 76th Street -- approaching the intersection of W. Thurston Circle. This, as a 24-year-old man was driving his car southbound on N. 76th Street. The man in the vehicle began to make a left turn but he failed to yield the right-of-way to the motorcycle, and both vehicles collided.

Berg was pronounced dead at the scene after he was ejected from his motorcycle. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says he died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries. The Medical Examiner's report says Berg was not wearing a helmet.

Police say the vehicle's driver remained at the scene. He was suspected of operating his vehicle while using marijuana -- and police say he failed a field sobriety test. He was arrested. Police say the driver was never issued a valid driver's license and his license status is suspended.

This case is being presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office for charges.
