MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Folks filled the MSOE Kern's Center on Sunday, October 6th for an "Empty Bowls" event.
It was a fundraising effort to help feed the hungry in Milwaukee.
Artists and volunteers handcrafted more than 2,000 soup bowls for the event.
"The bowls serve as a reminder that someone's bowl is always empty in our community," Ramie Camarena, a volunteer with Milwaukee Empty Bowls said.
Tickets were $20 and gave people their choice of soup from 30 Milwaukee restaurants.
The event also offered live music and a raffle.
Sunday's event was the 15th anniversary of Empty Bowls Milwaukee, and the group has raised almost $500,000 since starting the event.
Volunteers expected to bring in about $50,000 more during Sunday's event.
