Elementary school locked down because of fight nearby

CALEDONIA (WITI) -- A Caledonia elementary school was temporarily locked down on Thursday morning, March 28th because of a fight broke out near the school.

Police responded to Olympia Brown Elementary School around 8:20 a.m. -- about 15 minutes after the school day had started. A fight had broken out between two men -- one had just dropped his children off at the school. Investigators say the altercation was over a woman.

Once officers arrived on the scene and understood what was going on, they arrested the aggressor for battery and trespassing. He was booked and released after posting bond.

Both of the men involved in the fight are Caledonia residents.

No one ever came into the school building -- and the children were safe inside during the entire incident.
