Driver thankful for Good Samaritans after rollover crash

BIG BEND -- Messy road conditions Tuesday morning caused dozens of accidents throughout the area, and one woman driving through Big Bend Tuesday morning is now praising a couple of Good Samaritans.

A homeowner saw a car slide into a ditch along Highway 164 and land upside down on its roof in about three feet of water.

Nearby tree service workers from We Energies rolled the car on its side, getting it out of the water. Once more help arrived, they put the car back on its wheels.

"Just being at the right place at the right time, I guess. Just wish more people would have stopped to help us," Good Samaritan Todd Lyles said.

"I'm really glad we were there. She's very fortunate. A day earlier, a day later, we wouldn't have been there," Good Samaritan Chris Goral said.

The rescuers were concerned at first because they spotted a car seat in the back seat. Luckily, there weren't any children in the car.

The driver was a mom who had just dropped her son off at daycare. She suffered a few minor injuries, but is expected to be okay.
