911 calls from Hustisford dam collapse

HUSTISFORD -- Officials in Dodge County released on Friday, September 7th the first 911 call from the dam collapse in the heart of Hustisford. A dam worker was rescued there on Thursday afternoon, after being trapped under concrete.

The first 911 call from the dam collapse came in to emergency responders around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

911 Caller: "He's stuck underneath on a barge, right at the water level so I'm not sure how much time he's gonna be able to have."

With his co-worker trapped, the caller didn't stay on the phone for long.

911 Caller: "I'm gonna go 'cause I'm gonna keep trying to get him out, and get him some air down there."

Crews were able to free the 53-year-old worker. Officials say the man survived the collapse because of where he was standing. Despite the accident, the worker walked away virtually unharmed.
