WISCONSIN DELLS (AP) — Gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke says Republican Gov. Scott Walker has failed the state and Wisconsin needs a "new direction."
Burke told Democrats at the state party convention Friday night that she has the business background and plan to help improve the state's economy.
Burke is a former state Commerce secretary and Trek Bicycle Corp. executive. This is her first run for statewide office.
Burke says Walker's approach has been to divide people and put special interests ahead of the middle class.
Walker campaign spokeswoman Alleigh Marre says Wisconsin is better off now than it was four years ago and Burke would take the state backward.
