Riders wait in the bitter cold for their buses

BAY VIEW (WITI) -- For thousands of Milwaukee residents who use city transportation, waiting in the cold is not a choice but rather a way of life. Wait times for buses can be upwards of 20 minutes.

Riders of the Milwaukee County Transit System say waiting almost any amount of time in the dangerously cold temperatures has been practically unbearable -- and they are preparing themselves accordingly.

"We have to bundle up, put on a lot of gear and be prepared," said one rider.

MCTS is hoping a long wait time in the cold will soon be a thing of the past. The county is hoping to implement a new system allowing riders to track buses from their phone.

Unfortunately the technology won't be available until after this winter.
