Milwaukee`s string of violence sparks peace rally for change
MILWAUKEE -- Enough is enough. In the wake of a very violent night in Milwaukee, the city rallies for peace. They are asking the community to wake up.
A rally cry for change near 27th and Capitol. A community comes together after the violent night in Milwaukee.
"It was a very sad, very unfortunate that had to happen. It shouldn't never happened," said Quinlan Bishop, impacted by violence.
For Quinlan Bishop, the pain of violence hits too close to home.
"She got the call and I heard her break down and she was in tears," said Bishop.
Bishop's daughter is the cousin of nine-year-old Za'Layia Jenkins. The little girl was hit by a stray bullet while inside a home at 15th and Meinecke Thursday night.

"She was just in tears and it really, really broke her heart and she didn't understand why," said Bishop.
Bishop's daughter, Nyasha Hurst, broke down again, unable to comprehend why her cousin is now fighting for her life.

"I hope that she feels better and that she can be able to walk out and come out and talk to me," said Hurst.
At 15th and Meinecke, the same group offers prayers for Za'Layia.
"It's important we start to wake up as a community. Unfortunately, we can't choose what those wake-up calls are going to be," said Bishop.
A father and daughter stood together, comforting each other and begging a city to listen to their pleas.
"If a nine-year-old kid being shot in the face isn't a wake-up call for the community, then I don't know what is," said Bishop.
Za'Layia Jenkins is in critical condition at a hospital.
No arrests have been made in the shooting.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police.
