Baby girl delivered at Goerkes Corners Park & Ride
BROOKFIELD (WITI) -- A family was en route to the hospital to welcome their fourth child, but didn't quite make it to the hospital before baby came! The birth happened so fast, the woman's water broke in the vehicle, and the baby was born at the Goerke's Corners Park & Ride.
"We left the house at 4:30 and then she was born at 5:05," Camille Magdaleno said.
Camille and Martin Magdaleno thought they had mastered the routine of childbirth -- with their fourth child on the way.
"I thought I had a little bit of time. The water didn't break until we were on the freeway. It wasn't at home," Martin Magdaleno said.
Contractions surged when the couple hit the road.
"About 10 to 12 minutes apart, but as soon as we got around to the downtown area they were two minutes apart," said Martin Magdaleno.
"From the minute my water broke I could feel her coming out," Camille Magdaleno said.
911 calls captured the emergency. Panicking, the two parked at the Goerke's Corners Park & Ride before two Town of Brookfield firefighters arrived.
Christopher Krivitz reverted to training that prepared him to handle these types of emergencies.
"Get to the front seat and she's in obvious labor," Krivitiz said.
Krivitz helped to deliver the baby, named Vivian Elise Magdaleno inside the family's SUV.
The healthy baby girl weighed 8 pounds and 3.6 ounces, and was 21 inches long.
"That was the most amazing feeling I've ever had -- catching the baby," Krivitz said.
Meanwhile, Camille Magdaleno says she is thankful for people like Krivitz, who were there to help deliver her daughter.
"I'm glad that everybody is safe and healthy and that we have well-trained people that know what they're doing," Camille Magdaleno said.
Little Vivian and her parents are expected to head home from Wheaton-Franciscan Elmbrook Hospital on Wednesday.
