MILWAUKEE -- Two Milwaukee men have been sentenced for a series of carjackings that occurred in Greenfield and Oak Creek, Wisconsin in August 2015.
According to the United State's Attorney's Office, 19-year-old Devonte Hayes and 18-year-old Norman Howard were indicted, charged with with attempted motor vehicle robbery in Greenfield on August 18, 2015 and brandishing a firearm during that crime, which carries a seven-year mandatory minimum.
They were also charged with a motor vehicle robbery on August 12, 2015, in Oak Creek, and Hayes was charged with a motor vehicle robbery in Greenfield on August 11, 2015.
Officials with the U.S. Attorney's Office say Hayes and Howard used carjacked vehicles to commit further carjackings.
During the carjacking on August 18, 2015, Hayes pointed a firearm at the victim while he demanded keys to her car. After speeding away from the scene, Hayes and Howard engaged in a high-speed chase with law enforcement and were apprehended after a foot pursuit.
Hayes pleaded guilty to two counts of motor vehicle robbery, one count of attempted motor vehicle robbery, and one count of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
On March 10th, Hayes was sentenced to serve 13 years in prison, and three years extended supervision.
Howard pleaded guilty to one count of motor vehicle robbery and one count of attempted motor vehicle robbery.
On May 19th, Howard was sentenced to serve seven-and-a-half years in prison, and three years extended supervision.
