18-year-old man in custody after crash killed his sister, officials say he was racing

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police have arrested the driver involved in a crash that killed a 16-year-old girl near 13th and Bolivar Monday afternoon, March 6th. The 18-year-old Milwaukee man is the brother of the victim. He is now facing possible second degree reckless homicide charges.
Police identified the 16-year-old girl killed in the crash as Lisandra Munoz-Sanchez.
Students left St. Anthony School for the day on Tuesday, March 7th -- just as Munoz-Sanchez did with her brother 24 hours prior.
On Monday afternoon, officials said the brother, with Munoz-Sanchez in his passenger seat, was racing another car on South 13th Street.

The report from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says near Bolivar, Munoz-Sanchez's brother tried to avoid rear-ending a cement truck when he lost control and crashed into the truck sideways. Munoz-Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene. Her brother was injured.

A witness told FOX6 News the other vehicle stopped briefly, but then kept going.
"There is a lot of shock, especially related to Lisandra, because she's such a warm, caring, well-liked individual," said Chris Joch, St. Anthony High School principal.
Principal Joch said he would see the victim and her brother often.

"We saw each other every day. Very warm, respectful individuals. Just really exemplified what we want at St. Anthony," Principal Joch said.

The school has counselors on hand for students who wish to discuss the loss. The ministry plays an important role and is moving forward organizing a funeral at St. Anthony's Church.
"We're going to honor Lisandra. The ministry is planning to include a special, to weave it into our Mass celebration this week," said Joch.

As for the victim's brother, police said he was released from the hospital and will face charges for his sister's death.

Principal Joch said he is also well liked, and an athlete at St. Anthony School.
