RACINE -- One person was hurt after an SUV plowed right through the front door of a Cost Cutters in Racine's Regency Point Shopping Center. It happened Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 17.
"We're thankful no one was seriously injured. It could've been so much worse," Julie Kohlmann, Cost Cutters operations manager said.
Witnesses at the shop next door said around 2:30 p.m., they heard a loud noise, and said it sounded like the roof was caving in. They then heard screams and someone calling for help.
"I heard a loud bang, like it was coming from the ceiling, just like an A/C dropping, and we heard someone yell 'help,' so me and the guy that works here, we ran outside along with a couple of other people and there was a car literally in the building all the way in the back," Alex Anderson, who works in the shop next door said.
"It's a lot to take in," Kohlmann said.

The windows on the Cost Cutter's storefront were completely shattered. Witnesses said the car was all the way in the building when they helped pull a female employee out from underneath the vehicle. Kohlmann said she was dragged by the vehicle.
"There was a stylist and a guest in this station at the time and there was another stylist and a guest over there. This stylist got pushed by the car," said Julie Kohlmann, operations manager at Cost Cutters.
Kohlmann said the SUV made it to the waiting area where customers normally sit-- and had they been busy, the situation could have been worse.
She said the injured employee was taken to a hospital for treatment, but is expected to be OK. She and Anderson said the victim suffered lacerations to her face.
"We've never had anything like this before but from my understanding, she has insurance, so we'll go from there," Kohlmann said.
Kohlmann and Anderson said the driver of the SUV was an elderly woman. The manager said she's a frequent customer at Cost Cutters.
Racine police are investigating.
