Happy Fourth of July! Activity abounds along the lakefront ahead of the spectacular US Bank Fireworks Show

MILWAUKEE -- Activity abounds along the lakefront in Milwaukee on Sunday, July 3rd ahead of the incredible US Bank Fireworks Show which begins around 9:25 p.m.

Ahead of the fireworks show was the "Fireworks Kite Festival" beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The Kite Festival, offered in conjunction with Gift of Wings, US Bank and Milwaukee County Parks features fun for the whole family. According to the annual event's website, the goal is to fill the sky with as many kites as possible from 11:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. -- and then from 7:30 p.m. until the fireworks begin around 9:25 p.m.

The Kite Festival takes place at Veterans Park.

Those gathered at Veterans Park for the fireworks show can enjoy the music of the United States Navy Band Great Lakes: Horizon from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. -- playing classic rock hits, Motown, country, funk and jazz.

The US Bank Fireworks Show begins around 9:25 p.m. and lasts for 60 minutes.

Officials advise that you arrive early, as the Milwaukee Police Department and Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office will close access to North Lincoln Memorial Drive ahead of the fireworks show.
