Teenage shoplifting suspect restrained by store customers
WEST ALLIS -- A 16-year-old shoplifting suspect is recovering at Froedtert Hospital after an incident at a convenience store at 92nd and Schlinger Ave. in West Allis Friday afternoon.
Police say they were notified of a shoplifting at the store around 4:15 p.m. When they arrived on scene, they found store customers had restrained the teen. However, when they approached the boy, they found he was not breathing. They began CPR to try to revive him.
West Allis Fire Department personnel arrived, they took over resuscitation efforts and were able to get the teen breathing again. Again, the teen was taken to Froedtert Hospital for treatment.
Officers and detectives are gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses to determine what occurred and circumstances surrounding the condition of the juvenile.
