SHEBOYBAN, Wis. - A 19-year-old Sheboygan man was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 23, following a police chase and crash.

What we know:
According to the Sheboygan Police Department, officers tried to pull over a vehicle near S. 8th Street and Indiana Avenue around 5:40 p.m. due to excessive engine noise and "other driving behaviors."
The driver refused to stop, accelerating away at a high rate of speed and heading north on S. 14th Street from Indiana Avenue.
Police pursued the vehicle for several blocks but terminated the pursuit near N. 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue because of dangerous speeds and driving.
Shortly after, another officer spotted the vehicle approaching N. 14th Street and Superior Avenue. That officer did not pursue the vehicle.

Ran red light
What we know:
The suspect vehicle sped through a red light at the intersection, striking an eastbound car on Superior Avenue. The fleeing driver, a 19-year-old Sheboygan man, was arrested at the scene and was the vehicle's sole occupant.
The suspect was transported to an area medical facility via Sheboygan Fire Department ambulance for evaluation. Following medical clearance, he was booked into the Sheboygan County Detention Center to face multiple charges.
The driver of the other car, a 73-year-old Sheboygan man, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. He was the vehicle's sole occupant.
