Several students in custody after Greendale H.S. bomb threat found

GREENDALE -- Bomb-sniffing dogs were brought into Greendale High School and declared the building clear. This, after a bomb threat was found written on a bathroom wall on Monday. Tuesday night, Greendale Principal Steve Lodes said several students were taken into custody after a joint investigation between the Greendale Police Department and the Greendale School District.

The Greendale School District says increased security was in place at the start of school on Tuesday. Classes were conducted as usual. Extra security measures are in place to ensure the building remains safe.

To ensure the safety of students and staff, all after-school activities and community classes and events are canceled for Tuesday night. Students are expected to leave the building by 3 p.m. for the purpose of conducting additional building searches.

On Wednesday morning, school officials say they will utilize a secured entry to the building as students arrive for school. Students will only be allowed to enter through the main atrium entrance and through the front entrance to the east of the Multi-purpose Room.  Entrance to school tomorrow morning can begin at 6:45 am.

Lodes says these extra security measures will remain in place to ensure safety, even though some students were taken into custody Tuesday night.
