Rock County crash: Milwaukee semi driver dead, hit snowplow

A Milwaukee semi driver died after crashing into a Rock County snowplow on Friday morning, Jan. 10.

What we know

The crash happened on I-39/90, near Beloit, around 11:45 a.m. The Rock County Department of Public Works said a county snowplow was clearing snow on the inside median when a semi struck the plow's rear passenger side.

The semi jackknifed and blocked all southbound lanes. Interstate traffic was rerouted onto state and county highways. 

The semi driver, identified as a 59-year-old Milwaukee man, died. The snowplow driver reported no injuries, but was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

What we don't know

The Wisconsin State Patrol is still investigating the crash and inspecting the semi and snowplow.
