Record shattered! Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction raises over $313,000!

WEST ALLIS (WITI) – Wisconsin State Fair Officials and members of the Blue Ribbon Sale of Champions Foundation are pleased to announce the 46th Annual Governor’s Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction at the 2014 Wisconsin State Fair was one for the record books.

The evening raised a total of $313,350, shattering the previous record of $255,400, raised in 2005, and surpassing the 2013 total by $76,600.

Bucky Badger and the UW-Marching Band welcomed everyone to the Case IH Coliseum and set the tone for a high-energy evening.

The exhibitors and their champion animals joined the Governor on stage as the auction kicked off at 6:30 p.m.

Bidding commenced with the Grand Champion Steer (Crossbred) exhibited by Lauren May of Mineral Point, Wis. in Iowa County. The 1,290 pound steer sold for $45,000 with the winning bid from Potawatomi Hotel & Casino.

The annual auction recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of Wisconsin’s youth exhibitors. Winning bids for the 2014 Governor’s Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction are as follows:


    In addition, several Wisconsin sports packages featuring several framed photographs were also auctioned off. An autographed Green Bay Packer Jordy Nelson jersey went to Jim and Mary Quade of Quade Farms for $6,500; two autographed prints of Bart Starr and Hank Aaron went to S&R Egg Farm Inc. and East Point Sportz Pub, each for $7,500; an autographed basketball print of Bo Ryan and the Badger Basketball Team on the Road to the Final Four went to Jim Villa for $2,250; a Bucky Badger print went to Teresa Johnson for $2,000; and an autographed Milwaukee Brewers Jonathan Lucroy jersey went to Tom Johnson / Kent Feeds for $1,600.

    Together these items raised a total of $27,350.
