Police investigate fatal shooting near 23rd and Wisconsin

Officials with the Milwaukee Police Department confirmed a fatal shooting near the Marquette University campus on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 6.

According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office, the deceased is a 22-year-old man.

Those who work along Wisconsin Avenue were shaken up by the shooting, which happened in broad daylight -- around 12:30 p.m.

"What are these people thinking shooting somebody in the middle of the day," said Leticia Munoz, who works nearby.

The bullet hit Princess Nails. In the moments following the shooting, workers counted the blessings.

"Scared, scared to death," said an employee at Princess Nails, who did not want to be identified. "Thank goodness, if the bullet was lower a couple feet, some people would have killed got hurt inside the shop."

The shooting remains under investigation.
