Pewaukee apartment building fire; officer burned, resident hurt

What we know:
The fire broke out at a 16-unit apartment building near Morris Street and Highway 16 around 1:40 p.m.

A box alarm was issued, and crews responded from the Waukesha, Pewaukee, Kettle Moraine, Merton, Western Lakes and Lake Country fire departments – and others.
Pewaukee Fire Department Battalion Chief Trevor Misiak said a police officer was burned, and a resident hurt their foot.
Investigators said as many as 16 people are displaced, and the Red Cross responded to assist.

What we don't know:
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The battalion chief said as of now, it does not appear to be arson.
"As of right now, nothing looks to be that way but it’s still under investigation," Misiak said.
